Greetings

Insight Meditation of Ventura
Anchored in Theravada Buddhism, we are an inclusive community of dedicated practitioners who have come together to support each other in integrating a full range of Buddhist contemplative and meditative practices in our day-to-day lives.

All Are Welcome
Grounded in kindness and generosity, everything is freely given in gratitude to those who have kept the teachings alive and available all these many centuries.

Dharma Talks
We offer Dharma talks on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  Beginners to advanced meditators are welcome.  The atmosphere is accepting, free of ritual, informal and relaxed.

PLEASE NOTE:   Our July 1st meeting has been cancelled. We will meet again on July 15th.

Our Dharma talks are held at the Ventura Center for Spiritual Living located at 133 S. Laurel St, Ventura, CA 93011. We meet  in a small bungalow just south of the main sanctuary, near the intersection of Laurel Street and Santa Clara Avenue.

Each talk is preceded by thirty-minutes of meditation. Instruction is regularly given on a range of meditation objects.  These include mindfulness of the breath, body sweeping, working with the four foundations of mindfulness, the jhanas, the four Brahma Viharas, and Vipassana's choiceless awareness.

Dharma talks are followed by group discussion and sharing.  Questions about meditation are addressed.

If you are brand new to meditation, please let us know you are coming. We will meet with you a few minutes beforehand and provide preliminary instruction.

There is no charge for the Dharma talks. They are offered on a dana (donation) basis.
